![]() I just loved the sisterly vibe and watching the power of three in action whenever the sisters would fight a demon. But there will be.Īre you a fan of The Charmed Series? This was one of my favorite shows back in the 90s. Stalked by shadows and sickness, hunted by forces who will not suffer a witch to vote-and perhaps not even to live-the sisters will need to delve into the oldest magics, draw new alliances, and heal the bond between them if they want to survive. If the modern woman wants any measure of power, she must find it at the ballot box.īut when the Eastwood sisters–James Juniper, Agnes Amaranth, and Beatrice Belladonna–join the suffragists of New Salem, they begin to pursue the forgotten words and ways that might turn the women’s movement into the witch’s movement. ![]() ![]() There used to be, in the wild, dark days before the burnings began, but now witching is nothing but tidy charms and nursery rhymes. ![]() In 1893, there’s no such thing as witches. ![]()

Doctor who the silent stars go by7/6/2023 ![]() ![]() In some cases, however, the BBC chose to publish novels that have different characteristics including an increased length that allows offering better-developed stories.ĭan Abnett has already written various works related to the “Doctor Who” saga, mainly in the form of comics. Generally, the novels connected to the TV show “Doctor Who” are published in book series that have specific graphics, size, and very similar lengths. He runs into human natives in search of a missing local woman, but before he can try to explain that he doesn’t know anything, the group is attacked by the creatures. Once out of the Tardis, Rory searches for his travel companions, but spots menacing creatures and flees. The Doctor tries to use his psychic paper, but when it’s read even by an illiterate inhabitant, the others think that it’s some kind of conjure. ![]() The Doctor and Amy come across some inhabitants of the planet, who welcome them with puzzlement. The Doctor and Amy venture into the area while Rory returns to the Tardis to get a heavier coat to wear. The Eleventh Doctor promised Amy, and Rory to take them home for Christmas but mistakenly takes the Tardis to another planet, where the travelers find a great cold and a lot of snow. The novel “The Silent Stars Go By” by Dan Abnett was published for the first time in 2011. ![]()

Cold Comfort Farm is a parody not just of rural dramas, which were popular at the time, but of authors as notable as Thomas Hardy and DH Lawrence, and I imagine Gibbons writing it from the comfort of home, making up plants, farm implements and regional dialect as she goes. Darkly dreaming dexter review7/6/2023 ![]() Unless, of course, his plaything finds him first. It quickly becomes clear that it will take a monster to catch a monster - but it isn't until his archnemesis is abducted that Dex can finally throw himself into the search for a new plaything. As Dexter's dark appetite is revived, his sister, Deborah (a newly minted, tough-as-nails Miami detective), is drawn headlong into the case. A particularly nasty psychopath is cutting a trail through Miami - a man whose twisted technique leaves even Dexter speechless. But how long can Dexter play Kick the Can instead of Slice the Slasher? How long before his Dark Passenger forces him to drop the charade and let his inner monster run free? While not working as a blood-spatter analyst for the Miami Police Department, he now spends nearly all his time with his cheerful girlfriend, Rita, and her two children, sipping light beer and slowly becoming the world's first serial couch potato. In an attempt to throw Doakes off his trail, Dexter has had to slip deep into his foolproof disguise. It's just not easy being an ethical serial killer - especially while trying to avoid the unshakable suspicions of the dangerous Sergeant Doakes (who believes Dexter is a homicidal maniac.which, of course, he is). ![]() A serial killler who only kills bad people.ĭexter Morgan has been under considerable pressure. ![]()

The 5th wave book7/6/2023 ![]() ![]() But, I think I enjoyed Cassie’s point of view more. We also get to see the point of view of Ben Parrish who is an important character in this book. The characters were amazing in this book. Once we read the Fourth Wave, no one is able to trust anyone because anyone could be one of the “Others”.Ĭassie starts to lose hope until she meets Evan Walker who might be her only chance of getting her little brother Sammy back. ![]() The first wave is darkness and anything electronic like cellphones, cars, etc. One day, the humans see a mothership in the sky which freaks them and out and they try to get a peace arrangement with them but the Aliens or the “Others” (as Cassie and her father calls them) don’t say or do anything for 10 days which makes everyone nervous.Īfter those 10 days, the first wave hits them. In this book, we follow the main character Cassie which is short for Cassiopeia. ![]() I’ll be showing 2 sections, one spoiler free and then a spoiler section. The 5th wave is the first book in the Fifth Wave Trilogy by Rick Yancey which is a young adult, science fiction dystopian novel that was published on by Putnam’s Sons Books for Young Readers. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() Like The Royal We, Prince in Disguise is a light-hearted romance, with the exception being that it is a YA title. So when I got the chance to read Prince in Disguise by Stephanie Kate Strohm, I snapped it up faster than you can say “the Queen’s corgis are darn cute.” I might pretend like I’m a girl who cares little about girly things, but give me a story about royalty and I can’t ignore it. And of course I ate up every last Princess Diaries book that there was. I devoured The Royal We. I inhaled My Lady Jane and Kiara Cass’ Selectionseries too. ![]() With the royal wedding of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry about to become a reality, I’ve rediscovered my love of all things royal–especially when it comes to reading. ![]()

Tim marshall geography7/6/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() The premise of this book revolves around considering a variety of different maps and explaining how the physical geography has affected the history of the area, focusing mainly on recent, well-known conflicts and issues. Defined as politics, especially international relations, that is affected by geographical factors, this book demonstrates how significant events that have happened in the past, and those that will happen in the future, can be largely attributed to a nation’s geography. Prisoners of Geography by Tim Marshall was the book that allowed me to overcome this distaste and develop a strong appreciation for geopolitics. ![]() As an A-Level Physical Geography and Geology student, I was very much uninterested in the side of my subjects that revolved around the interactions of humans with the environment. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() Review #2 Do You Want Me? audiobook streamming onlineĭo You Want Me is the prologue to Marcuss story This Love Hurts. My auntie Lindie told me that one when I was young. I just wanted to share with you a quote from this book that made me laugh. I plan to preorder as soon as I am done with this review. Marcus\’ story continues in THIS LOVE HURTS. Before he will put an end to their hot love affair. You know Marcus is only going to let Cody have her for just so long. It is made obvious that Delilah is the real love interest to Marcus. Marcus is an invisible force controlling and manipulating from the shadows. This is the hidden torrid affair between, Delilah, a prosecuting attorney, and FBI Agent Cody Walsh. Glad it did, because I read it in one sitting. DO YOU WANT ME just called to me with that beautiful cover. But last night, I was looking for a new book to read. Originally I was going to wait till THIS LOVE HURTS was released, to read DO YOU WANT ME. Which is the long awaited Marcus\’ story. DO YOU WANT ME is a Prequel to THIS LOVE HURTS. ![]()

![]() ![]() And it gets worse Lila is a person of interest in his homicide. Guess what else is a bummer? She is constantly running into her high school ex-boyfriend who has been trash-talking her family restaurant…until he drops dead during breakfast at their diner. Sure, now she gets to hang with her BFF all of the time, but she also has to live with her Tita Rosie and her Lola–who never miss an opportunity to lovingly judge and micromanage her life. ![]() Manansala’s Arsenic and Adobo, aspiring chef Lila returns to her suburban Illinois hometown with her tail between her legs, leaving behind a promising career and a cheating ex-fiancé in Chicago. Reading books with main characters who resembled me was something I was definitely missing as a girl growing up in a predominantly white, midwestern suburb. I have to say, it’s great to see so many more authors of color represented. This novel was also recommended to me from the all knowing people (computers? algorithms? bots?) at Goodreads. The minute I saw the word Adobo, I was hooked. This was part of my April Book of the Month Club Box. ![]()

Glint raven kennedy series7/5/2023 ![]() ![]() They reflect the journey our protagonist, Auren, takes in order to get to know herself and get in touch with her true nature. “ The Plated Prisoner” as the chosen name for the whole series perfectly encapsulates what every single book explores. I’m not losing faith in her just because I didn’t like “ Glow.” The Plated Prisoner Series Believe me, I will be impatiently waiting for the next book no matter my opinion of the previous ones. ![]() Moreover, being this one of my favorite stories, it’s difficult when the latest book turned out disappointing to me-again with all my respect to Raven Kennedy. This said, I have to be true to my opinion, too. It’s a huge responsibility, one I take seriously. I know the power of words, in this case, how reviews could potentially affect authors. I know how hard it is to make a story come true, to have the courage to put ideas into words and manage to publish a 300/400-words piece of art. ![]() Why is it difficult to review? I highly respect writers. ![]() |
