Reading books with main characters who resembled me was something I was definitely missing as a girl growing up in a predominantly white, midwestern suburb. I have to say, it’s great to see so many more authors of color represented. This novel was also recommended to me from the all knowing people (computers? algorithms? bots?) at Goodreads. The minute I saw the word Adobo, I was hooked. This was part of my April Book of the Month Club Box. ![]()
